Weekly Round-Up

This week in Parliament we saw further evidence of the government’s mismanagement of the NHS, with record-crippling waiting lists announced. It is now clear that for millions of patients, the NHS is no longer there for them when they need it most. The Prime Minister’s refusal to meet with doctors to end the industrial action is only making matters worse.

Furthermore, it was revealed the Prime Minister blocked plans to rebuild five hospitals riddled with crumbling concrete three years ago, prompting risks to patient safety, as well as the various number of schools around the country. There is now an extremely concerning theme occurring with this government, lurching from one crisis to another, ignoring the warnings around the country until it’s too late.

It is becoming clearer and clearer as the weeks go on that a general election is needed as soon as possible.

Chase Farm

As many of you will know, it was publicly announced on Monday that Chase Farm would be restoring its opening hours to full service on the 16th of October. This is fantastic news.

I have visited Chase Farm and seen first-hand the amazing work the staff do there. It is a great community asset. However, I repeatedly raised my concerns regarding the reduced opening hours at the Urgent Treatment Centre over the last year due to the current lack of access to GPs in Enfield. Residents need to be able to access the care they need.

Alongside the huge issues with access to GP services in Enfield, there are ongoing pressures in A&E services at North Mids, which is why the Urgent Treatment Centre at Chase Farm is so vital for residents. It is the only door to the NHS for thousands of my constituents.

Everyone deserves access to the right healthcare when they need it most, and I will continue to fight for the people of Enfield North to ensure they do so.

You can see the full details of my campaign here.

Place2Be visit to Honilands School

It was brilliant to attend Honilands School this week with Place2be and take part in the opening of a new therapy room.

This will provide pupils with space to express their feelings and manage their mental health in school.

The amazing work by Place2Be ensures that everyone feels safe, healthy, and can learn together.

I can’t wait to come back and see the progress soon.

Resident meeting on car racing along the A10 and Mollison Avenue

The problem of car racing along A10 and Mollison Avenue is blighting the lives of our residents. I continue to receive complaints about the misery this is causing.

Residents deserve answers and action on this matter as soon as possible.

I will work with residents and local police every step of the way to try and put a stop to this dangerous anti-social activity.

I look forward to attending a meeting with those concerned in the coming weeks to discuss this matter further.

Crime Survey

If you have any concerns about crime in your area, PLEASE fill in my crime survey, it is on my website and it allows us to work together to create a safer and more secure future for Enfield North.

You can find it here.

More Delays to the Renters Reform Bill

Yesterday it was revealed there are now further delays to the Renters Reform Bill.

The legislation, which would end “no-fault” evictions in England, was promised in 2019. Yet here we are, four years later, with families in Enfield still being turfed out of their homes through no fault of their own.

Families are facing a desperate situation and urgently need greater security and better rights, yet this government has failed to lift a finger to progress the legislation.

Galldris Visit

It was fantastic to hear from local Enfield business Galldris on their work on the current HS2 project.

Galldris is a civil engineering and construction company and it was great to learn of the opportunities they provide.

I wish them the best for the future!
